One of my highlights of 2014 is writing this blog. After years of intention and hesitation, I finally began. Thank you for reading and joining me. That I have readers and receive so much feedback is a privilege.
This is a journey. I'm still finding my feet. Learning to "write as if no one is reading" – from the heart, clear and true. Learning to let my light shine brightly.
In my last entry for the year, I choose to allow another’s words to speak for me.
The first time I saw this piece, nearly twenty years ago, it was projected very large on a wall. It halted me in my tracks! From that first reading, the content has been central to my life.
Some of you are familiar with this piece, for some it may be the first time.
Let us each find the message for us today as we come to the end of another year.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate:
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves...who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous
Actually...who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure about you.
We were born to make manifest the glory that is within us.
It's not just some of us, it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
From "A Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson
spoken by Nelson Mandela in his Inaugural Speech
Let us all shine brightly as we farewell 2014!
